Who is responsible
The website acev.net and the AceV Minecraft server are run by Danijel Balcakovic, a private individual resident in Switzerland. There is no company behind it. No postal address is published on this site; it is provided in writing on request at info@acev.net.
For anything about your data, write to info@acev.net. More details are in the legal notice.
This policy follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for visitors from the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
In short
- The website sets no tracking or advertising cookies and uses no analytics.
- Some features save small pieces of data in your own browser; that data never leaves your device.
- To show the server status, the Discord member count and players' heads, your browser contacts three outside services.
- Fonts, images and music are served from this website: nothing is loaded from Google or other font services.
- Once the forum opens, it will keep the account data listed below, and nothing more.
Visiting the website
When you open a page, the web server processes technical data needed to deliver it: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser and device type. The site runs on hardware of Hetzner Online GmbH in Falkenstein, Germany, rented through Thunder Hosting (Switzerland). These server logs are used only to run and protect the website and are deleted after 14 days.
Data stored in your browser
Some features use your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device, is not sent to us and can be deleted at any time by clearing the site data in your browser.
| Name | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|
server_uptime_history | The server checks your browser made, shown as "Your checks, last 7 days" on the home page. | 30 days |
forum_demo | Only used if the forum is ever put back into demo mode, where an account and the threads you create stay in your browser. The live forum never writes it. | Until you clear it |
forum_read | When you last opened each forum thread, so threads with new replies can be marked as new. | Until you clear it |
forum_draft_… | Unsent forum drafts, so a reload doesn't lose your text. | Until you close the tab |
None of these is a cookie and none is used to track you. Because they are strictly needed for the features you use, no consent banner is required.
Outside services
Three features make your browser contact another service directly. That service sees your IP address and browser details, as with any website you visit. These are transfers abroad: Discord, Inc. is in the United States, and both mcsrvstat.us and mc-heads.net are delivered through the network of Cloudflare, Inc. (United States), which receives the request before they do. The website itself is hosted in Germany.
- Server status — mcsrvstat.us (opens in a new tab) tells the page whether
mc.acev.netis online and how many players are connected. - Discord member count — Discord, Inc. (privacy policy (opens in a new tab)) provides the number of members and online users of our invite.
- Player heads — mc-heads.net (opens in a new tab) provides the Minecraft head shown next to each username. Only the public username is sent to it, never your email or account details.
Links to Discord, Minecraft and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
The forum
The forum is open to read. You can create an account with Discord; signing up with an email address is paused while we finish setting up our mailbox. Creating an account means we store:
- your forum name and an email address. There is no password, and never was: you sign in with a one-time code sent to your address, or with Discord;
- if you sign in with Discord: your Discord account id, handle and email address as Discord reports them, so that we recognise you next time. We ask Discord only for
identifyandemail, and the access token is used once and never stored. If Discord gives us no confirmed address we store a placeholder that cannot receive mail, and the account can read but not post until you confirm one; - the threads, replies and reports you post, with their dates, and the threads you follow;
- a login cookie that keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the forum to work and is removed when you log out or it expires;
- your IP address with login, sign-up and posting attempts, to stop abuse. These records are deleted after 14 days;
- if you link your Minecraft account, its UUID, used only to show your rank.
Your email is used for account messages only: the one-time code that signs you in, and the code that confirms your address when you sign up or change it. There are no password emails, because there are no passwords. These emails are sent from no-reply@acev.net through our web host's mail server, with no newsletter or marketing service in between. Your email is never shown publicly, sold or used for advertising.
Until you confirm your email address you can read the forum but not post. Signing in with Discord counts as confirmed when Discord tells us that your address is confirmed.
Posts stay visible after you write them. If you delete your account, your personal data is erased and your posts remain, shown as written by a deleted user. You can ask us to remove specific posts. Unlinking Discord is refused while it is your only way in, so that you cannot be locked out of your own account.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- tell you which data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct data that is wrong;
- delete your data or your account;
- stop processing your data where the law allows you to object.
Write to info@acev.net. If you think we handle your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, to the data protection authority of your country.
Younger players
Many Minecraft players are young. If you are under 16, ask a parent or guardian before creating a forum account.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes too. Important changes will also be announced on our Discord.
